I should note that collecting ammo at times can be a bit annoying because of their hitboxes, but the game gives unlimited ammo of a specific type that lets you not worry about aiming your shot on the tiny critters.Īlthough the first-person mode seems complementary, you’ll actually find yourself running through the game a lot in said mode. See, this game lets you switch between third and first-person for most areas of the game, and the latter is required if you want to use the ammo you’ve been picking up across levels. Players can hoof it and knock out enemies with melee attacks, but that will not work against bosses, and you’re only making things harder if you don’t engage in combat from the first person. But all works out as you use your environment to hide from enemies and bag them, dead or alive, with the help of actual living ‘live ammunition’. Being a one-man army, naturally, it’s difficult to go up against multiple enemies with good accuracy and strong reflexes. Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD follows the bounty hunter dubbed ‘Stranger’ as he bags high-valued bounties across the Oddworld to save up enough ‘moolah’ to quote on quote, “survive”. This HD port, developed and published by Oddworld Inhabitants, has actually made the rounds across several other consoles, but modern Xbox consoles had no way to play this game until very recently. A mouthful that one, but it’s true-and yet it stayed fairly niche in the grand scheme of things. Released exclusively on the original Xbox way back in 2005, Stranger’s Wrath was a fantastic attempt at incorporating first-person combat with a third-person character action-adventure slash platformer. Were it not for gaming magazines of yore, I would have never picked up on the Oddworld games, and in particular, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath.

When he's down use Zappflies and Thudslugs (if his health can afford it) to weaken his stamina or even do boombats if he has a lot of health left and eventually you can capture him. When his health is at around 1/3, he'll come down after you personally. Use Thudslugs to knock him away from reactivating the shield. You will still get caught in the blast, but you can heal quickly without much interruption or worry. You can also hide from the missiles in the wire gates. Sometimes, he will be knocked to the ground, make sure he doesn't go back up by placing fuzzles near the doors. Stunkz don't have any effect on ol' Palooka, so it's best to hit him with Boombats or Fuzzles and he will be sent flying away. It's best to strafe and jump to avoid the missile contact from Patrack, and aim to knock the activators away. You must use the Zappflies to zap the four generators and get to Palooka before it's too late! Shoot the two rocket launchers to the sides of Patrack to blow them up. Collect as much ammunition as possible here, and carry on to witness a cut-scene. Walk through the small catwalk and jump down. They might try to pull it back up, so just hit it again if they do this.

Up ahead, grab the Fuzzles and use a charged Zappfly on the blue activator to lower the draw-bridge.
There are two more stray enemies before you reach another breakable fence. Go under the bridge and up the platform on the left to reach a row of enemies (including rocket launchers that can't attack you due to the low ceiling of the mountainside) that you can use a Stunk on and bounty. Try to capture one of the two enemies that are throwing up. Quickly kill the two suicide bombers and dodge the rocket launch. Blast down the fencing and use a Stunk on the group of enemies up ahead. By the time you do this, two guards will be easy-pickens below. Quickly get back due to the explosive enemies, and go back up the ramp to collect some moolah inside of the barrels and such higher up. Jump down, capture him, and go up to the device to the left of the gate and press the X button to open it up. Shoot the two guards on the platforms straight ahead and drop the enemy below you.
